My name is Meagan. I love singing and making music!

I have a bachelor's in music education from Grand Valley State University, I graduated with Performance Honors, and I taught music in the Michigan public school system for several years. I was also a vocal lessons instructor at Marshall Music and through my own home studio for about five years. I have been paid to perform concerts, to be a guest section leader in several community and church choirs, and to do public speaking events where I talk about vocal music, singing techniques, and music education. I have performed in over 25 stage musicals, won multiple karaoke contests, and I love rocking out with my band.

I am the lead singer, lyricist, and co-composer for the rock band Odds Fish. We create original rock music that we perform regionally. We also release our music online for streaming, we do cover songs on YouTube sometimes, and we have an actual CD available called "Sink Me." I also write some folk-pop stuff on my own on the side, and I play the ukulele and piano (both poorly) mostly for fun or to help with composing. I can also play trombone and tambourine (both excellently, for some reason.) I can sing in many styles, though "rockin' out" is truly my favorite, and my vocals have been compared to people like Hayley Williams, Linda Perry, Adele, Miley Cyrus, Kelly Clarkson, Avril Lavigne, Ann Wilson, Janis Joplin, Lita Ford, and Lzzy Hale. (In my more operatic styles, I get Amy Lee and Tarja Turunen.)

I just love singing. I have been singing since before I could talk, and I wrote my first song at the age of five. I performed with Kenny Rogers at a Christmas concert around ten years old, I sang in choirs from 4th grade through college, I started doing community theater in 4th grade as well, which I still do when I can, I was in concert bands from 6th grade through my sophomore year of college, I was the drum major of my high school marching band, and I have been in three pretty good rock bands throughout my adult years, including the gem of them all: Odds Fish!

In addition to all of my singing education and experience, I also work as a freelance writer and poet. I have two books of poetry published currently, and I am working on my third. I write lyrics for my band and for my solo music, and I also write a lot of music related content for websites and blogs. In the past, I even sold personalized poems on Fiverr. So, I can definitely help with lyrics and spoken word segments if necessary.

My studio setup is currently in the basement of a rental house, but I do have some pretty nice gear, considering. I also have access to it whenever I need it, and my bandmate Will can assist me with the recording process and any editing needs that may arise, so we're good to go there!
